Sizolwethu Embarks on a New Water Project.

Here at Sizolwethu we are all about helping to make people healthier in whatever way we can. We do that mostly through our mobile health clinics but also provide health education classes in the communities in which we work.

One project particularly close to our heart is our WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) initiative in local schools.

At the moment we are taking another step in this project by undertaking to repair borehole pumps in seven schools in the Umguza, Imbizo, Khami and Reigate communities.

The boreholes had fallen into disrepair due to a lack of funds to maintain them and the water situation at these schools had become dire and unhealthy.

With the help of an extremely generous donor, Sizolwethu will repair and rehabilitate these pumps with the aim of reducing the danger of young children contracting water-borne diseases by consuming infected water.

WASH issues continue to be a challenge in most schools and therefore the project will be beneficial, as children will be introduced to aspects of personal hygiene, health education, sustainable management of water sources as well as management of solid waste.

Sizo will collaborate with the Ministry of Education to provide the training to the students in order to ensure sustainability of the project.

The project is already underway and we have been greeted by many smiling children who are so excited to have clean, easily accessible water right on their school’s doorstep.

We thank the Lord for the opportunity to bless these communities and continue to pray for His provision in Zimbabwe!
